An Arkansas woman flew to New York for a Brooklyn restaurant reunion with a stranger she had promised to see 10 months later.

Erin Jackson and a Brooklyn resident named Sue showed up at the same restaurant at 7 p.m. on December 27, 2024, keeping the promise they made when they met.

“We came because that’s when we promised Sue that we would be there,” Jackson told PEOPLE.

“It was never a thought in our mind to not come,” she said.

A promise between strangers

Jackson was visiting New York from Arkansas for a birthday dinner with her husband and friends.

She and Sue were seated near each other at the Brooklyn restaurant and struck up a conversation.

The two agreed to meet back at the same restaurant at 7 p.m. on December 27, 2024.

They deliberately did not exchange contact information, leaving the promise as the only link between them.

Jackson then flew to New York City for the reunion.

The reunion

Jackson’s party ran into Sue and her friend Dominick outside the restaurant.

The two women screamed with excitement when they recognized one another, InspireMore reported.

The moment was captured on video and went viral, passing 2.8 million views, Gulf News reported.

Jackson’s Instagram video showed her family’s trip to Brooklyn and the reunion itself.

“So we had no way to communicate. Just a promise to a stranger. Well today is December 27,” Jackson said in the clip.

“We’re best friends forever,” Sue said in the video.

The video drew comments celebrating the friendship.

What happened next

Jackson and Sue exchanged contact information at the reunion.

They also planned another dinner together for June 27.
