People who don’t even believe climate change is real are taking issue with President Joe Biden’s motorcade as he went to meet with the pope, calling him a hypocrite and using this as “proof” climate change isn’t an actual concern.
The line of vehicles escorting Biden to the Vatican was certainly longer than is normally the case, with the total allegedly reaching around 85 vehicles. Reporters gathered on the ground to watch his arrival.
According to the New York Post, “offering security generally is the responsibility of the host country,” which makes it unclear who was actually responsible for this massive line of cars going with Biden to meet with the pope. And the Daily Mail reports that COVID restrictions in Italy limit four people to a car.
But the criticisms still came rolling in, and continued on Monday, when Biden arrived in Glasgow, Scotland, for a climate change summit. There, his motorcade consisted of the more standard 25-30 cars but received just as much scrutiny from climate change deniers as the Rome motorcade.
It’s hard to take the criticism seriously when it’s coming from the same people who don’t believe climate change is a threat at all, and it certainly hasn’t stopped Biden from continuing to call for action regarding climate change — including a move towards electric vehicles instead of what was seen in his motorcade.
