There’s no doubt that Joe Biden being announced as President-elect was the biggest news of the weekend. But amidst all the celebrating, it was difficult not to keep one eye on the Trump camp, to see how they would react to the news.
Trump himself has continued his fervent Twitter screeching about mass voter fraud (of which there is no proof) and that he really won (he did not). But his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who is perhaps now best known for sticking his hand down his pants in the presence of an actress posing as a 15-year-old posing as a rightwing journalist, held a press conference on Saturday that took our breaths away.
The conference was held at the Four Seasons. That is, the press conference was held in front of Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a small office on the outskirts of Philadelphia, wedged between a sex shop and a crematorium.
Giuliani repeated Trump’s baseless claims of voter fraud, a registered sex offender made an appearance, and some folks wandered over to check out the porn shop. It was a gruesomely fitting end to a gruesome presidency — so much so that the internet really, really can’t let it go.
Was this a case of an accidental booking that forced them to double down and embrace the absurdity? Did the Four Seasons Hotel reject them? Did the campaign run out of money? Was some staffer playing a massive prank on the way out? So many questions that may never be answered, or we simply may not believe the answers we are given because they make absolutely no sense. But either way, it seems the Four Seasons Total Landscaping incident may live on forever, through oral history, through American textbooks, and most of all, through the internet’s collective “what the f—k?”
