AFTER BEATING CANCER, PRINCESS KATE CLIMBED BRITAIN’S THREE TALLEST PEAKS IN 24 HOURS TO GIVE BACK TO THE HOSPITAL THAT TREATED HER
Catherine, Princess of Wales, recently completed an impressive physical feat to support the medical facility that treated her. Over a single weekend in 2026, she successfully finished the arduous Three Peaks Challenge. This endurance event requires participants to summit the three highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales. The most significant part of this feat is the strict timeframe, as climbers must complete all three peaks within 24 hours.
The Princess, now 44, chose this specific challenge to benefit The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This specialist center in Chelsea, west London, provided her care during her own health journey. Catherine shared a video message on Sunday to explain her motivations for the climb. She noted that her reasons were partly personal, expressing deep gratitude for her health and the strength to walk the hills.
The journey represents a major milestone following her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment in early 2024. After announcing she was in remission nearly a year later, the Princess gradually returned to her royal duties. She now serves as a joint patron of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity alongside her husband, Prince William. Her involvement focuses on promoting the hospital’s work and supporting others who live with or beyond a cancer diagnosis.
During the challenge, Catherine climbed a total of 3,064 meters, which is approximately 10,052 feet. She completed the trekking portions of the event alone but found a supportive crowd waiting at the finish line. Prince William and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, all greeted her upon completion. Her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother, James Middleton, also attended to celebrate her achievement.
In a statement released by Kensington Palace, the Princess reflected on how a diagnosis profoundly affects every aspect of life. She emphasized the importance of holistic care, which addresses a patient’s mental, social, and spiritual wellbeing alongside physical health. By completing this trek, she hoped to inspire others to look toward the future. Catherine also shared a fundraising link to encourage the public to donate to the cancer center.
