KFC CHINA SOLD AN OREO CHICKEN BURGER WITH BLACK BUNS
KFC China served up an Oreo chicken burger with black Oreo-flavored buns, mashed potatoes and crushed cookie bits.
The burger launched at KFC locations in China on August 28, 2026, after the chain announced it on Weibo. It packed a fried Original Recipe chicken thigh fillet, lettuce, and mashed potatoes topped with crushed Oreo pieces.
KFC China pitched the sandwich as a “collision of sweet and savory flavors,” Dexerto reported.
Promotional material showed the burger served with an Original Recipe chicken-flavored Oreo cookie.
The burger flipped an earlier crossover. In August 2026, KFC and Oreo had already teamed up on an Oreo flavored with KFC Original Recipe chicken.
KFC has been busy with chicken news elsewhere too, and also brought back popcorn chicken with a bucket in the US.
The sweet dipping sauces
KFC China also rolled out two dipping sauces: a vanilla-flavored white sauce and a cocoa-flavored black sauce. The chain called them “companion sauces,” and they were its first sweet fried-chicken ones, Dexerto reported.
The pair was priced at 2.5 yuan in promotional material.
KFC’s American account had a one-word reaction to its Chinese counterpart’s promotion: “KFC CHINA,” Dexerto reported.
How much it cost and how long it lasted
The Oreo Chicken combo of two burgers and one piece of Original Recipe Chicken cost 29.9 RMB, SmartShanghai reported.
Selected combos came with an Oreo Chicken-flavored sandwich cookie. There were 240,000 limited packs of the promotional cookies, handed out first come, first served.
No plan to bring the burger outside China was announced.
The burger was available in China through September 13, 2026, while supplies lasted.
