A St. Louis 7-Eleven baby born on 7-Eleven Day at 7:11 p.m. got a $7,111 college fund from the chain.
J’Aime Brown was born on July 11 in St. Louis to Rachel Langford and Johntez Brown. She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. By July 20, 2019, 7-Eleven had pledged $7,111 to her college fund and sent the family a stash of baby supplies.
The numbers Langford kept seeing
Langford had been noticing the numbers seven and eleven before her daughter arrived.
“Many times during my pregnancy, I would glance at the clock, and it would show 7:11,” she told CNN.
She wasn’t sure what to make of it. “I thought it was strange at first, and I had no idea that those numbers held such importance,” Langford said.
She admitted the coincidence left her a little “freaked out.”
Then J’Aime showed up on July 11, a date known as 7-Eleven Day, when the chain has offered Slurpee promotions. She was born at St. Mary’s Hospital, FOX 10 reported.
Langford and the baby were doing well after the birth. She also has an older son.
Langford said she planned to tell 7-Eleven about the coincidence herself. The company got there first.
What 7-Eleven did next
The company announced the pledge just over a week after J’Aime was born, People reported.
7-Eleven spokesperson Gaby Harris explained the gift in a statement to USA Today. “After catching wind of the incredible news, 7-Eleven decided to pledge $7,111 to the newborn’s college fund to honor her entry to the world,” she said.
The gift didn’t stop at the money. “Along with this pledge, the brand has also provided the family with diapers, 7-Eleven onesies and other newborn goodies to help her parents along the way,” Harris said.
The brand also welcomed the baby on Twitter and gave her a nickname:

Langford called the college money “a real blessing,” ABC News 4 reported.
