POLICE: DAD AND 2 KIDS DEAD IN APPARENT PA. MURDER-SUICIDE
Patrick Lynch, 42, and his two children, James, 8, and Caroline, 6, were found dead near a parking garage in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon around 4:15 p.m. on November 3, 2026, in what police describe as an apparent murder-suicide. The New York Post reported that the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said all three died from injuries suffered in an “apparent fall.”
Officers found them near the municipal building off Washington Road. First responders tried life-saving measures, including CPR, but all three were pronounced dead at the scene, according to CBS Pittsburgh.

“Preliminary information suggests that this incident is a murder-suicide,” the Allegheny County Police Department said. Police said there was no danger to the public. A black vehicle was seen sealed off with police tape at the garage.
Mt. Lebanon Police Chief Jason Haberman struggled to hide his emotions as he spoke to reporters at the scene. He said the case was being investigated “not as an accident.”
“There will be a significant amount of trauma associated with this event for the community,” Haberman said. “Everybody in the Mt. Lebanon community will know somebody involved in this incident.” Mt. Lebanon is an upscale suburb about five miles south of downtown Pittsburgh.
TribLive, citing Mt. Lebanon Magazine, reported that the family lived in the town’s Beverly Heights section. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, also citing the magazine, reported that Caroline was diagnosed shortly after birth with Williams syndrome and heart and lung disease.
The Mt. Lebanon School District closed two elementary schools on November 4, 2026. Students at other schools in the district were allowed to stay home with excused absences, and school counselors were made available.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news involving members of our Mt. Lebanon school community,” the district said in a statement reported by TribLive. It asked that the privacy of the family and the school community be respected.
On November 4, 2026, CBS Pittsburgh reported that a makeshift memorial of flowers had appeared in Mt. Lebanon for the children. Allegheny County police are assisting Mt. Lebanon police as the investigation continues.
