JPMorgan DEI executive hit with more fines as NYC Sanitation recovers stolen Knicks garbage can

The New York City Department of Sanitation has officially recovered a team-themed trash receptacle after a viral incident during a recent celebration. Officials confirmed the return of the orange and blue bin, which had been taken by a fan following the New York Knicks’ victory parade. The department shared a photo of the recovered item on social media with the caption Welcome back! We missed you! to announce its safe return to their headquarters.

The individual involved in the theft faced immediate legal and professional repercussions. Authorities identified the woman as Angie Baez, a 40-year-old who previously served as an executive director at JPMorgan Chase. Sources state that the incident took place in 2026 after the Knicks secured their first NBA title in over five decades by defeating the San Antonio Spurs.

The controversy began when a viral video captured a woman in full Knicks gear dumping trash onto a Broadway sidewalk. After emptying the bin, she reportedly walked off with the city-owned metal receptacle. Additional footage later surfaced showing the woman traveling on the subway while still carrying the large basket. Department officials described the act as incredibly stupid due to the blatant nature of the theft in public view.

Following the investigation, the Department of Sanitation issued two separate fines to Baez for her actions during the event. She received a $75 fine for littering after emptying the bin’s contents onto the street. She also incurred a $100 fine for impeding department operations, which represents the maximum penalty allowed under current city law.

The fallout from the incident extended beyond city fines and social media notoriety. JPMorgan Chase confirmed that Baez is no longer employed by the company following the public circulation of the video. The firm specifically cited the incident when clarifying her departure from her role in community and industry engagement.

Representatives from the Department of Sanitation removed two stickers from the basket before returning it to service. Spokesman Vincent Gragnani confirmed that Baez returned the stolen goods herself at the Worth Street Headquarters. The department clarified that the announcement photo was authentic and did not use any artificial intelligence to depict the returned property.
