President Barack Obama recently released his memoir, A Promised Land, and a passage from the book was created into a meme by teens on TikTok.
In the passage, he explains his “strategy to pick up girls” and some of his descriptions caused readers to raise their eyebrows.
He described how his college reading was influenced by the women he was interested in dating, describing one woman as “the long-legged socialist” and another woman as “the ethereal bisexual who wore mostly black.”
People began using snippets from the book’s audio version to decide who in their group matches the president’s unique descriptors.
Many seemed to be surprised that the former president of the United States actually wrote and spoke the words on the audiobook. One person commented, “I am now going to listen to Obama’s book to hear the context for this.”
Others are calling Obama an “incel,” which is a term used on the internet to describe people who are involuntarily celibate.
The meme-ification of former president Obama’s excerpt has slowly begun to be overshadowed by his controversial remarks regarding the phrase “defund the police.” He said that the “snappy slogan” and is “losing people,” making them shy away from continuing the conversation of police brutality.
Others, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have argued that it’s a needed slogan for the cause.
