After calling a white peer for a racist video, a Black teen was accused of being a “life ruiner” and promoter of “cancel culture” by a Fox News host. In the video, the white student from Virginia is heard using the N-word and when Jimmy Galligan called the student out, he was called a “sociopath.”
Fox News host Sandra Smith had New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz on the show and Smith implied that the New York Times was “glorifying cancel culture” when they wrote about the incident between Galligan and Mimi Groves, who later decided not to go to a university after the video was gaining attention.
Markowicz said on the show, “They let a child take down another child. You know, anybody who keeps a video for three years is sort of a sociopath and we really need to watch that and the fact that that kid needs help.”
While she later said that she is not attempting to galvanize people to “go after the boy who went after this girl and got her life ruined.” But “absolutely he is a kid and he got the New York Times to support his insane vengeance plan against her,” Markowicz continued to say, “Vengeance is cyclical. “People are going to go after each other like this if the New York Times encourages it.”
They both come to an agreement that not posting “anything stupid” was the best way to not be called out, neither of them addressing the racist aspect of the video.
Karol continued to give her opinion, saying, “Anything can be twisted. I think that anything can be turned around and twisted and it can be a life ruiner as we’re watching this happen right now to this girl.”
