Donald Trump tested positive last week for COVID-19 and was hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center soon after. Reports of his receiving an experimental and powerful steroid used only in serious cases of the virus fanned rumors that his case was not a mild one. Perhaps in response to that, or perhaps because he is an egomaniac, Trump was taken on a loop around the hospital in an SUV.
Yes, he is alive and capable of waving his hands through a car window. He’s also capable of wearing a mask, despite what previous footage of Trump has indicated since March:
You’ll notice Trump isn’t well enough to drive himself, not that he would in the best case. He’s being driven by secret service agents, all of whom are wearing masks and all of whom are undeniably being exposed to the novel coronavirus so Trump can get an ego boost:
In this scenario, Trump is both the gun and the bullet, I guess. People who have lost family members to COVID, as well as doctors, are pretty disgusted with this dangerous stunt.
Dr. James Phillips, the chief of disaster medicine at George Washington University Emergency Medicine, had a series of tweets about the situation that he went viral for:
Phillips says that everyone in that vehicle must be quarantined for 14 days and that Trump put their lives at risk for “political theater.”
Really at risk:
He also commented on the lack of tweeting as a potential indicator of Trump’s health:
Maybe Trump has realized that as well, because early Monday morning, he had even more of a meltdown than usual on the timeline:
Trump is certainly causing a lot of trouble in the hospital, but over 200,000 people have died from coronavirus under his presidency, so it’s really not safe to have him anywhere.
