The election in Georgia was marked to decide who would hold Senate control under Joe Biden’s presidency. The race was between Rev. Raphael Warnock and Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, and Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff against Republican David Perdue.
The race was called in favor of Warnock on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning, Ossoff declared victory, though there are still votes coming in. It looks pretty good for him, though.
It's been a long time since hope has been felt on the timeline. Even Joe Biden's win has been shadowed by Donald Trump's absolute refusal to concede the election and his ominous attempted coup. For a few hours, people are allowing themselves to enjoy this moment.
People are especially happy to say goodbye to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, because he won't have the majority on sh-t. They're also celebrating Stacey Abrams, who organized her state in a massive voting campaign.
It's hard to say if a great deal with change as quickly as it needs to in the next year, or two, or four. But for right now, let's revel in these Georgia win reactions:
