It’s a stereotype that conservatives who call everyone “snowflake” are themselves unbelievably sensitive to any perceived slight or insult. That stereotype still didn’t prepare me for the absolutely unhinged responses this troll got when they started commenting four simple words on different conservative social media accounts: “Barack and Michelle Obama.”
As a statement, it’s fairly neutral. Just two people’s names. Not a condemnation, nor an endorsement. And yet it was enough to set some people off to a comical degree, which is why the screenshots posted by u/mike30381 on r/InsanePeopleFacebook got so popular. I’m not sure if they’re the troll doing this project or if they found the images elsewhere, but they’re pretty funny.
“My new favorite pastime is commenting ‘Barack and Michelle Obama’ on conservative Instagram posts and seeing responses,” the title reads.
The first pic they did this under is of Donald Trump and his wife Melania doing a contorted air kiss to avoid touching mouths. The caption says, “Adorable couple.”
“Barack and Michelle Obama,” the troll comments, adding some heart emojis for good measure.
“You are not right,” someone responds. “Do not say that here. do not.”
“President Barack and Michelle Obama,” the troll replies, making them even more incensed.
Another responder gets deep right away, writing, “tupid little boy with your Middle East ideas. god bless MR PRESIDENT TRUMP and to H*LL with Barack Hussein Obama and Corpse Michelle ‘Obama.'”
A lot to unpack there.
Another person demands to know, “Why would you choose a BADGER when you have a LION,” then calls them a “LIBBY SNOWFLAKE D*KE.”
People spending a lot of time commenting on big Instagram accounts dedicated to Donald Trump probably don’t have a lot going on, but this still seems like a big overreaction. You might say they’re….triggered.
