Growing up is slowly losing the wonder of childhood, including all of the fun silly ideas we hold. And the stupid ones. And that’s a little sad because most of the stupid ideas we hold as adults are far more dangerous. But at least our childhood beliefs are fun to reflect on later. Twitter user @ExileGrimm shared one of their childhood beliefs, asking everyone else to join in.
“What’s the dumbest beliefs you had as a child?” they asked.
“When I was 4-5 I swore that bird seeds grew birds, thus the name. When my parents asked me to prove it to them, I planted a pile of bird seeds. The next day there were loads of birds where I planted the seeds, showing I was right.”
That’s actually a really great point, and proven through scientific experimentation. And yet their parent never conceded:
This memory jogged everybody else’s weird kid ideas, and soon the comments were just a walk down wacky memory lane. Some of the strange ideas people held as kids were actually kind of familiar, and I wonder if everyone makes these mistakes. Others so are specific, you know they can’t be made up.
