Chrissy Teigen is being mom-shamed online by people who consider taking a bath with your children to be pretty sexy. The model shared an adorable picture of herself bathing in heaps of bubbles with her two children, Miles, 3, and Luna, 5. “Not pictured: endless bickering,” she captioned the Instagram image. Also not pictured, probably: myriad plastic bath toys. Watch where you’re sitting!
Many fans thought the image was cute and joyful. After all, most of us have bathed with our children, either because it’s fun or because it’s convenient (not all of us have multiple bathrooms, thank you very much). But there were critics who thought it was inappropriate for Teigen to bathe with her children.
“Nope! Not appropriate in front of your son,” one person wrote. Another said, “Bickering between kids is normal. Taking a bath with your kids is not.”
“It’s not appropriate to have her son in the tub with her,” yet another person said, focusing on the 3-year-old Miles who was probably just super stoked to have his mom playing in the bubbles.
Projecting sexuality on small children is something Americans love to do. It’s incredibly strange and disturbing, because small children are not interested in sex. So when an older person looks at a picture of a child enjoying time with their parent and their thoughts immediately drift to sex? Weird.
Your children love you and want to do fun things with you. A bubble bath is super fun — and not at all scandalous.
