Toddlers are unpredictable. They’re too little to have a solid grasp on their motor skills, and they definitely don’t have any sense of social norms. Which is to say, if they get a hold of something, you never really know if they’re going to throw it, shove it in their mouth, or just stare in awe at this mysterious THING that wound up in their grasp.
But a new TikTok trend has produced some very interesting results when it comes to giving little tykes…eggs. It seems astoundingly counterintuitive — why would you give a baby something not only incredibly breakable, but that would make such a mess for you to have to clean up when things inevitably go awry?
Well, @cassandranguyen981 insisted she heard that if you give a baby an egg, some part of them knows to be gentle, and the mama wanted to test out this theory with her own kiddo.
And…apparently, it’s true. Or at least it was for this gentle baby.
Other TikTok moms were interested to try this out with their kids, too, and the results were often the same. Babies and toddlers given an egg somehow, miraculously, often treated it well and didn’t splatter it all over the floor like they eventually tend to do with everything else.
Some babies treated the egg like their new BFF.
While others were mostly interested in shoving it in their mouths. Of course.
A lot of them just seemed confused. Look, life is hard when you’re new to being a human.
But all the videos were pretty dang cute.
…even the ones that didn’t quite go as planned.
Of course, TikToks are innately pretty short, so who knows what happened with those seemingly gentle tots after the camera was off.
But curiosity as to how their kids would react left us with a whole lot of cute videos of babies and toddlers tentatively grasping onto eggs, so we’ll take the win.
