Model Lacey-Jade Christie recently showed off a white dress she wore to a wedding and was subsequently ripped apart by commenters criticizing the choice to wear white to a wedding.
“I am off to a wedding, here’s my fit,” wrote Christie on her TikTok video.
She also showed off her nails, accessories, and face jewelry.
However people were upset over the color of the outfit and its style, neither of which were evidently appropriate for a wedding.
“Why would you let your friend go out looking a mess,” wrote in one comment

Another person said, “I thought it was something she had put on while she was getting ready. Not a good look.”
“I’d die of embarrassment in that…. it’s an absolute disaster on all counts,” chimed in a third.
“I’d be gutted if someone wore a beach cover up to my wedding,” joked another commenter.
Others were more clear that white was the problem.

“WHITE!!!!!!! Girl… only the Bride should wear white,” a woman on TikTok wrote.
“It’s rude: You don’t wear white to a wedding. it’s the bride’s day not yours she’s the one in white,” said another person.
Lacey was shocked by the comments and explained that not every wedding has the same rules. In fact, she said, she was following the bride’s instructions for that wedding.
She noted that both brides loved the outfit and were happy that their friends expressed themselves.
“All I have taken away from this week is that most people out there are super boring and have never been to a queer wedding,” Lacey said.
She also faced copious amounts of fat phobia in her comments. She slammed people for those comments. The comments were cruel and we will not repeat them here.
Still — she did have people in her comments chiming in to support her.
“I love how people want all these original weddings yet follow outdated traditions like guest can’t wear white.. lol you look beautiful,” wrote one supporter.
“It’s also tacky to police others clothing for events you weren’t invited to, but here we are,” said another astute viewer.
