There are countless studies that show that some of the ingredients used in shampoo and other beauty products can be potentially harmful. It’s for that and other reasons that Laura Ashley is serious about the “no-poo” method — a movement where people don’t use shampoo.

Ashley, who is vegan, regularly shares her stances and way of life on Instagram.

However, after revealing that she has ditched shampoo and other conventional products, the influencer has become a target for trolls. Ashley said the secret to her gorgeous hair is avoiding traditional shampoos and simply using water when washing. Ashley’s recent hair care routine video was met with mixed responses.

Some users complimented her hair while others called her greasy and insisted she wash her hair properly.

But Ashley isn’t allowing the negative comments to bother her. She believes that everyone is entitled to their opinions.

“I’d seen something online about some people weren’t using shampoo and the more I started diving into it, the more I wanted to take everything into my own hands and have as much responsibility as I could,” she said.

“It’s kind of a DIY experimental thing. [I remember thinking]. ‘Can I make my shampoo? Do we really need to rely on all these products?’ My hair looks so much healthier now. It used to be pin straight, and I was constantly using heat on it and weighing down with products. Now I’ve let all of that go, I’ve got curl in my hair. It’s nice – I wake up, take a shower, and I like my hair.”

She added that her new method is also better for her mental health.

“It’s mentally healthier too, because it’s important to be comfortable. It’s not a 40-minute thing to get my hair ready in the morning. It feels healthier and it grows faster too,” she said.

In addition to her no-poo approach, she also believes her vegan diet plays a huge part in growing a healthier mane.
