Hanging Up Without Saying Goodbye Isn’t The Only Unrealistic Norm In Movies

A good movie or TV show is excellent at immersing you so deeply in the world of its story and characters that you overlook the things that would seem pretty implausible if you encountered them in real life.

Often when we think of that suspension of disbelief, it’s referring to sci-fi or fantasy elements, or even just characters brilliantly coming up with solutions to impossible problems.

But weirdly enough, those elements can be easier to let go of in our enjoyment than smaller aspects of on-screen fiction that just don’t sit right. You can be watching a show based entirely around vampires but when they start using Bing to look up information online, boy, that’s when the realism gets sucked right out of the room.

One Redditor was curious what types of smaller things that happen over and over in movies or TV that are presented as “normal” take viewers out of the immersive experience and have them thinking “that is not what people in real life do.”
