Kim Kardashian’s decades-old sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J has once again been making headlines this year, as rumors spread about potential unreleased footage.
The sex tape, filmed while the pair was on vacation in Cabo in 2002, was much-discussed on the Kardashian family’s E! Reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and Kim herself admitted that she was open about the sex tape because she knew the producers of the show would “love” it.
In their new Hulu show, The Kardashians, Kim once again brought up the tapes, alleging that Ray J may have other compromising videos of her. She joked, “What if I was f-cking sleeping and he stuck a dildo up my ass? I don’t know.”
At a later point in the series, the family was seen celebrating Kim’s ex-husband, Ye, for supposedly retrieving a laptop from Ray J that allegedly contained further unreleased footage.
That being said, Ray J tells a different story, and he is not amused by how the Kardashians are sensationalizing something he wishes would be left in the past.
In an interview with the Daily Mail earlier this year, the 41-year-old claimed that Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, was the mastermind behind the sex tape’s release, with their approval.
He sees the sex tape’s narrative as the “biggest lie in the industry in the history of entertainment,” and called the sex tape “a deal and a partnership” between him, Kim, and Kris that was inspired by Paris Hilton’s sex tape scandal put her in the headlines.
“You’re watching a whole family create an empire from a lie they’ve created,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking and disrespectful to all the entertainers who have been honest and true to their craft.”
Ray J and Kim argued about the narrative being told on the show about the sex tape, with Ray J accusing her of “playing games” and adding that they “had an agreement.”
“You know what we did! Your mom controlled this whole sex tape deal,” he said in a DM to Kim, asking, “Why are you trying to ruin me when you know I was just a player in this! You have to stop believing your own lies!”
Kim apologized and said she knew they are “aligned in wanting to move forward” with their lives and “not continue to be defined by something we did 20 years ago.”
Then Kris made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden last week, and she was asked about her involvement in the sex tape leak while strapped into a lie detector manned by polygraph expert John Grogan.
Corden asked Kris, “Did you help Kim release her sex tape?” to which she replied, “It’s okay. No, no.”
According to Grogan, Kris passed the lie detector test, making her laugh and say, “We cleared that up!”

Ray J, however, shared a slew of articles about the supposed polygraph expert, saying, “John Grogan is a fake. […] He’s been convicted of twenty-six counts of fraud and had his P.I. license pulled from him.”
He then went on Instagram Live back to back for a total of an hour and 12 minutes to level further accusations against the mother and daughter duo.
Ray J claimed that Kris watched multiple sex tapes the pair recorded and chose the final one because it gave Kim a “better look than the second one.”
“You watched it, and made a decision,” Ray J claimed. “Then, you get on whatever show and take a lie detector test with a fraud.”
Ray J plans to take Kris and Kim to court for “being foul and trying to defame [him],” adding that his romantic partners don’t trust him due to the tape’s leak and that he had to defend himself against accusations from his company’s board earlier this year.
