The subscription service OnlyFans has reported record high profits in the 2021 fiscal year, revealing that its content creators, predominately self-employed sex workers, collectively made $3.86 billion.
Most recently, the platform has made headlines for Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen’s 18-year-old daughter Sami launching her account. After educating herself on the subscription website, Richards herself opened an account, lauding it for the protections afforded creators over their content.
“Our creator-first approach to building the world’s safest social-media platform propelled OnlyFans to a record-breaking 2021,” OnlyFans CEO Amrapali “Ami” Gan said in a statement. “We are empowering creators to monetize their content and have real control over it.”
The financial report also seems to have revealed that Blac Chyna ranked at the number one spot for highest-earning content creator for the fiscal year on the adult website, followed by Bella Thorne and Cardi B in second and third places.
Variety reported, “In 2021, model and TV personality Blac Chyna was the top-earning creator on OnlyFans, pulling in an estimated $20 million per month, according to research service Statista. Bella Thorne took the No. 2 spot with an estimated $11 million per month followed by rapper Cardi B with $9.34 million per month, per Statista.”
Based on the numbers provided by Statista, that would mean that the forner Kardashian makes nearly $240 million a year from OnlyFans, no doubt before taxes and the website’s fees, and makes more than two times what singer Cardi B makes on the site.
Other than a rocky week when OnlyFans announced the planned banning of adult content on their adult content website, which of course received severe backlash from content creators and users alike, the subscription service website chugged along in their revenue growth to 160% over the course of 2021, according to the financial statement.
It certainly makes sense, as more and more people are continuing to try to find ways to work from home. OnlyFans is certainly a logical option, for those who want it. Even, it seems, the likes of Blac Chyna and Cardi B.
