On Monday, the world was made privy to an interview with Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis’ former nanny via an article from the Daily Mail. The interview made several alarming claims about the marriage.

The anonymous nanny took care of the pair’s two kids, Otis and Daisy, for three years. The nanny also provided the Daily Mail with text conversations between herself, Sudeikis, and Wilde.

The nanny claims that Wilde “left” her family to be with Harry Styles and that Wilde’s involvement with Styles began while Wilde was still with her husband.

Olivia and Jason began dating in 2011, were engaged in 2013, and split up in November of 2020. Wilde was romantically linked to Styles only two months after the split.

Styles and Wilde met in 2020 after she cast him in Don’t Worry Darling; Wilde has stated that there was no overlap of the relationships, but the nanny told the Daily Mail about when Jason learned about Harry.

The nanny said, “On the Monday morning [of] Nov. 9, when I came back from a weekend off, [Jason] was crying a lot, crying and crying. I didn’t know what had happened at all,” she claimed. “After I’d got the kids ready, Jason came upstairs and was having some coffee. He was crying and a mess, saying, ‘She left us. She left us!’”

Jason learned about the relationship, allegedly, via text messages popping up on Wilde’s watch.

The nanny also talked about a pretty alarming situation while Olivia made a salad for Harry Styles using a “special dressing.” Sudeikis “went outside and lay under her car so she wouldn’t leave.”

Olivia then “went back into the house and he went in, it was back and forth. He said he was doing it on purpose to make her late going to see Harry,” according to the nanny.

A few hours after the Mail published the interview, Olivia and Jason released a joint statement accusing the former employee of harassing them and stating that all claims were false.

“As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly,” the statement read. “Her now 18 month long campaign of harassing us, as well as loved ones, close friends and colleagues, has reached its unfortunate apex.”

On Tuesday, Olivia made an Instagram story post that seemed to reference the “special dressing”.

She posted a photo of Nora Ephron’s autobiographical novel Heartburn — the key excerpt being:

“I taught Mark to make the vinaigrette. Mix 2 tablespoons Grey Poupon mustard with 2 tablespoons good red wine vinegar. Then, whisking constantly with a fork, slowly add 6 tablespoons olive oil, until the vinaigrette is thick and creamy; this makes a very strong vinaigrette that’s perfect for salad greens like arugola and watercress and endive.”

The internet quickly devolved into amateur sleuthing to determine the meaning of the post, wondering if it, perhaps, lends truth to the claims of the nanny. Many people online started piecing together tidbits to make some pretty wild claims that have not be substantiated at all.

Or maybe… it’s just a salad.
