After The US Sun reported that he paid an estimated $3 million per year for all of his children from many women, Nick Cannon went on record to tell the Neighborhood Talk that he spent a lot more on his now eleven kids than the article suggested.
“I definitely spend a lot more than that on my children annually,” the 42-year-old television host said in the statement on Friday. “I don’t plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child.”
Cannon first became a father back in April of 2011 with his now-ex-wife Mariah Carey, who gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe. They are now 11 years old. He didn’t have any more children until Brittany Bell gave birth to their son, Golden, in February 2017. A daughter, named Powerful Queen, was born in December 2020.
After that, the births start to snowball a bit, as Abby De La Rosa gave birth to twins Zion and Zillion in June 2021, and Alyssa Scott had son Zen, also in June 2021, who sadly passed away at 5 months from brain cancer.
Cannon has had more children with Bell and De La Rosa this year, as well as with Bre Teisi and Lanisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott is pregnant with their second child together, soon to bring his total number of 2022 babies to five.
The comedian and former Nickelodeon star has been adamant about his relationships with the mothers of his children, stating that he doesn’t consider monogamy to be a healthy relationship option.
“I feel like that gets into the space of selfishness and ownership,” Cannon said on “The Language of Love” podcast.
He went on, “You can still make covenants without getting the government involved, where two people say, ‘We choose to be monogamous because we value this so much, we don’t want anyone to be a part of this energy we have,’ and I don’t feel like that’s healthy.”
