Actress and comedian Mindy Kaling has finally spoken out about the rumors that B.J. Novak is the father of her two children, Katherine and Spencer.
The two friends are former costars from days on the show The Office, and dated on and off for years throughout the course of the TV show’s production. While they aren’t dating any longer, they remain fast friends and Mindy even asked B.J. to be the godfather to her two children.
Given their complicated history over the years and the secrecy behind Mindy’s children’s father, rumors have been circulating for years online that perhaps B.J. is the father of the 39-year-old actress’s two children, and while Mindy has addressed those rumors in a new interview with Marie Claire, the rumor mill is no doubt going to be disappointed with the results.
When interviewer Neha Prakash asked Mindy about her thoughts on the rumors, the actress was easy in her response.
“It doesn’t bother me,” she replied. “He’s the godparent to both my kids — and they have such a great relationship — and so far [the speculation hasn’t] affected my happiness at all, it hasn’t affected my kids or B.J.”
She went on to add, “If that’s what is going to be titillating to people, I’ll take it.”
The last time Mindy spoke about the paternity of her children was back in 2019, when she gave an interview with the New York Times.
The interviewer, David Marchese, asked her, “How did you arrive at the decision not to talk publicly about who your daughter’s father is? Did you know all along that you would keep that private?”
Mindy’s response was short and to the point.
“My feeling is that until I speak to my daughter about that, I’m not going to talk to anyone else about it,” she said.
