Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly announced their engagement in an Instagram post that is perfectly in line with everything else we’ve learned about their relationship at this point in time.

The proposal took place by the same banyan tree where Fox says the pair sat in July 2020, asking for magic.

“We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time,” she wrote. “Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.”

Fox and MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, have had a fascinating relationship, first getting together in early 2020, Fox sharing her belief that they’ve been together in “so many different forms, in so many different lives” last summer, and them giving that amazingly bizarre interview in British GQ in October 2021.

“‘I just remember this tall, blond, ghostly creature and I looked up and I was like, ‘You smell like weed,’” Fox recalled of their first meeting. “He looked down at me and he was like, ‘I am weed.’ Then, I swear to God, he disappeared like a ninja in a smoke bomb.”

The idea that their relationship was somehow always fated to be in a weird way continued with her Instagram post announcing their engagement.

“And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes,” she wrote. “…and then we drank each other’s blood.”

The proposal went just about how anyone who has been paying any attention to Fox and MGK would have expected.

Do we want to hear about their wedding? Yes. Are we almost definitely going to regret knowing anything about it afterward? Also yes.
