Marilyn Manson confessed to SPIN magazine all the way back in 2009 that after he and actor Evan Rachel Wood split, he called her one hundred and fifty eight times and dreamt of “smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer” every day.

And holy sh-t, why didn’t we all stop there in 2009?

At the time, Manson was promoting “The High End of Low” and shared this horrifying tidbit of the relationship that began in 2007, when Wood was 19 and Manson was 38. They were engaged in 2010 before ending the relationship. In 2008, there was also a split, which is the time period Manson described to Spin. He claimed he had been depressed and felt “betrayed” by Wood.

“And every time I called her that day — I called 158 times — I took a razorblade and I cut myself on my face or on my hands,” Manson relayed to Spin. He also said he told her, “I want you to physically see what you’ve done.”

He went on:  “That damage is part of it, and the song ‘I Want to Kill You Like They Do in The Movies’ is about my fantasies. I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.”

In February of this year, Wood publicly stated that Manson was her abuser via an Instagram post. She had previously campaigned in support of survivors of domestic violence and often spoke of her own experiences, but she had never named anyone.

“The name of my abuser is Brian Warner,” Wood said in the post, “also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

In March, documents filed as part of Wood’s custody battle with her former husband, Jamie Bell, cited that Wood had installed bulletproof windows, steel doors, and a security fence around her home because she was so afraid that Manson would hurt her family after the accusation.
