If you missed it, one of the goofier internet conspiracies lately is that Lea Michele is illiterate (there’s no evidence whatsoever of this).
The rumors were sparked by Naya Rivera’s memoir, in which the former Glee star wrote that Michele never wanted to improvise. So, naturally, the internet leapt to the ridiculous conclusion that Michele could not read and she was fed her lines instead of memorizing them. As to why she couldn’t read, the evidence cited was that she grew up as a child actor and “never had time to go to school.”
Hope these people never enter law enforcement.
Anyway, Lea eventually learned to laugh at it and is “in” on the gag – she even jokes about herself, like in a TikTok where she asks Jonathan Groff to read all her comments to her.

She wasn’t always so zen about it. She told the New York Times, “I went to Glee every single day; I knew my lines every single day. And then there’s a rumor online that I can’t read or write? It’s sad. It really is.”
But since she finally embraced the bit, people have really run with the gag. Now every single one of her comments have been translated into emojis so Lea can read them.

For example: Lea posted herself in this gown.

And the comments were:

And they go on:

And another look:

Then check out the helpful comments:

So glad she finally came around to this absolute nonsense so her fans can have fun playing around with her. Isn’t it better this way?
Thank you to the fans for offering those translations – love a good emoji bit. Keep ’em coming, y’all!
