The Golden Globe nominee recently joined the social media platform, and in her second post, apparently responds directly to comments on her first post. These comments brought back to conspiracy theory that Michele is unable to read or write.

I mean, firstly, illiteracy is not funny no matter the context. But Michele tried to laugh at herself and the ridiculous rumors.

In the video, Michele acts out a few lines and accompanies the video with a text that was “Calling Jonathan to read me the comments on my first TikTok” referring to her best friend Jonathan Groff.

In the past, Michele has spoken out about the rumors and called them sad: “I went to Glee every single day; I knew my lines every single day. And then there’s a rumor online that I can’t read or write? It’s sad. It really is,” she told The New York Times in an interview.

“I think often if I were a man, a lot of this wouldn’t be the case,” she added.

Michele is currently playing the character Fanny Brice in the Broadway production of Funny Girl. Her first TikTok video referenced her character, showing her lip syncing to an audio of her own voice singing “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”
