It seems that attorney Camille Vasquez and Johnny Depp have become friends in the span of the defamation trial they won on June 1, and have plans to meet up again in the future.
Vasquez had an interview with Good Morning America to talk about the trial on Wednesday, June 8 in New York City. She was leaving the building alongside security guards when a cameraman asked her, “Are you going to be seeing Johnny Depp again?”
The 37-year-old lawyer was all smiles and immediately told the man, “Of course!” with enthusiasm.
The man behind the camera kept it trained on Vasquez as she was getting into the SUV and asked her a couple of times if she was a fan of Depp’s music, as he is known to currently be performing in the United Kingdom alongside his friend Jeff Beck, an eight-time Grammy award winner from England and one of the greatest guitarists in the world.
Vasquez didn’t appear to hear the question the first time it was asked, and when the question was repeated she told the man behind the camera, “Yes, yes, of course.”
Many online have speculated if Vasquez and Depp struck up more than friendship in the months they worked together, but Vasquez insists that theirs is a working relationship and there is nothing to the rumors that they are dating.
After winning the case, Vasquez was made a partner in her law firm, Brown Rudnick, as a show of confidence in her performance during the trial.
“We are pleased to announce that Camille Vasquez has been elevated to partner,” the firm said in a statement. “She was a key member of the litigation team that won a jury verdict last week for actor Johnny Depp in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.”
Brown Rudnick Chairman William Baldiga mentioned that the firm would normally promote lawyers to partners at the end of its fiscal year, however, “Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”
Vasquez said in a statement regarding her promotion, “I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me its full vote of confidence by having me join the partnership.”
