Drake and Taylor Swift have a friendship that spans well over a decade, with Swift name-dropping him in her 2019 track “I Forgot That You Existed,” and sparking rumors earlier this year that they would be collaborating on a project together. But judging by the Canadian rapper’s latest posts on social media, their friendship may be on the rocks.
In April, Drake posted a throwback photo of the pair of them to his Instagram page with the caption, “They too soft to understand the meaning of hard work.”
Now, however, with Swift’s tenth studio album, Midnights, claiming all of the top 10 spots (the first artist to ever do so) on the Billboard Hot 100 and not a collab in sight, people are scratching their heads, wondering what happened.
A week following the release of Midnights, Drake also released his own album in collaboration with fellow rapper 21 Savage. The album is titled “Her Loss,” and the pair shortly went on a viral virtual tour to promote it, including a faux Vogue photoshoot, for which they are getting sued, and Tiny Desk spoof appearance.
Nine of the tracks from their new album have pushed their way up the ranks on the Billboard Hot 100 to the top ten, but Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” continues to hold strong in the #1 spot. Swift has done several remixes of the song, including ones with Jayda G and Kungs, and it is the longest-running #1 track of her musical career.
Drake, it appears, isn’t happy about her track blocking him out, and very overtly covered up her name and song name with a variety of emojis when he shared the charts to his Instagram Story on Monday.

In the Story, the Canadian rapper wrote, “@21savage congrats my brother.”
The petty move was quickly noted by fans of Taylor Swift, who were unimpressed with his jealous attitude about the female musician’s success.
Drake wasn’t the only one shading Swift, as fans discovered that the producer of the song “Rich Flex,” ranked at #2, also had something nasty to say in reference to her.
Fans pointed out the hypocrisy of what men can get away with doing in the industry — as well as life, if we’re being real — that others can’t.
Not only has Drake been petty in his Story, but it also turns out he’s deleted the aforementioned photo of him and Swift and has unfollowed her account.
