According to a recent report by NBC News, 45-year-old dermatologist Yue Yu was arrested at the beginning of the month after her husband of ten years, Dr. Jack Chen, a 53-year-old radiologist, secretly filmed her and caught her allegedly pouring Drano into drinks meant for him.

The Irvine Police Department put out a press release earlier this week in which they said they had received a tip from Dr. Chen on August 4, claiming he “suspected he was being poisoned by his wife.” The radiologist had been feeling ill for about a month, according to the police report.

He believed that Yu had been intentionally poisoning him after a doctor’s visit revealed that he was suffering from two stomach ulcers, gastritis, and inflammation of the esophagus. The doctor’s visit prompted him to set up the hidden cameras to film their kitchen in order to have proof “supporting his suspicion.” He shared this footage with law enforcement, who then arrested the wife.

Yue Yu was booked into Orange County Jail, where according to the NBC News report, she posted the $30,000 bond to be released. At present, she appears to have not been charged in connection with her husband’s allegations.

The wife’s attorney, David E. Wohl, told NBC News that she has “vehemently and unequivocally denies ever attempting to poison her husband or anyone else.”

Meanwhile, her husband has sustained “significant internal injuries,” but is expected to fully recover. According to reports, Dr. Chen has filed for a restraining order against his wife, and has also filed for a divorce. According to the restraining order filing, the alleged poisonings Dr. Yu committed against her husband happened on July 11, 18, and 25, during which she poured Drano into his hot lemonade drinks.
