In a new docuseries for Peacock, Demi Lovato has become a ghost hunter—but an extremely compassionate one. The show is titled Unidentified With Demi Lovato, and it follows Lovato with their friend Matthew Scott and paranormal investigator Chris Smith. In a recent viral clip, they stopped by Vulture City, Arizona. Vulture is known as a ghost town so it’s a great place to go hunting.

The ghost they found using an EMF detector is apparently “a spirit who has past trauma with men,” probably because they were in an abandoned brothel. The spirit’s name was Carmen, and Lovato asked her, “Have you seen anything like ETs here or UFOs? Star people?”

The EMF detector lets out noise whenever a supposed ghost connection has been made. Lovato asks Carmen if they are a Star Person, or someone who is from another dimension, and the EMF doesn’t make a peep.

As the guys were getting ready to leave, Lovato asked Carmen, “Did you not want to say anything else because the boys were in here?”

The detector beeps, and Lovato continued, “I think – Oh, I get that a lot. She has trauma. That’s why she doesn’t like men. I have trauma, too, so I feel you and I get it.”

The guys tell Lovato to give Carmen a song, and they agree.

“Well I always sing ‘Skyscraper’ when I feel like singing something emotional,” says Lovato, popping off. When they finish the song, the EMF detector beeped again, which the group chose to interpret as a “standing ovation” from Carmen.

“That’s the coolest standing ovation I’ve ever had,” Lovato says.

The docuseries wasn’t a big hit upon its release, but Ladbible reports it recently resurfaced on Reddit where it went super viral and then ended up on Twitter. A lot of people are making fun of Lovato for taking the ghost seriously as a presence who wanted/needed singing. On the other hand, Lovato was getting paid to hunt ghosts, so I think we know who the real winner is here.
