A video made by TikToker Darius Covington went viral on Twitter because it’s a pretty hilarious summation of what it’s like to have your period, at least for a lot of people experiencing it. A uterus goes through a lot every single month, and shedding its lining is perhaps the most exciting part.
It hurts like hell and you’re supposed to just carry on like it’s normal. But how do you explain that to someone who doesn’t have the organs?
Well, Covington has been making TikToks of himself wearing a period simulator, or a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine.
The electrical impulses inside it can cause cramping and pain wherever they’re attached, and it’s sometimes compared to period cramps or even labor. In his viral video, Covington puts his on while making eggs.
He sets it to a level three, which is supposed to be two lower than menstruation pain:
Then tries to make eggs:
He ends up on the floor, with someone off camera asking how they can turn the machine off:
He tells them to just unplug it:
This is just one in a series, because these TikToks are very popular and Covington is willing to be in pain for views:
“So I’m sorry, y’all just live through this?” he yells in one. Yes. Yes, we do. Everyone who menstruates should get three days off a month, paid, no questions asked.
