We know Britney Spears is on Instagram, which means she has access to some kind of platform that supports the internet. But Spears says it’s not a computer — because she’s never used one.
In an Instagram post, Spears talked about the idea of sisterhood and alienation, saying that she’s met thousands of celebrities in the business, but she was rendered totally speechless by Kate Hudson and Drew Barrymore:
“They are by far the 2 most beautiful people I have ever seen in my life!!! Like shocking!!! I had to open my stupid mouth with Kate so I ran away immediately and with Drew…I went mute!!! I’m saying all this because it honestly is weird that in social media the expectations to be perfect is pretty crazy!!! And although I love my husband I will be honest and say I get annoyed all the time!!! So I think sisterhood is actually profound with one another… We do care what others think and then when you start to take yourself seriously I give up before I even begin because I care too much!!! It’s too hard…”
She added: “I’m sharing this because we all seem to alienate behind our phones and computers…I’ve never opened a computer my whole life…just a phone. I saw all this but I will probably buy a computer today!!!”
While it might be just an exaggeration, it’s totally possible that Spears doesn’t have experience with laptops or desktops. In a 2016 interview, Spears also referred to her lack of computer literacy, saying, “Honestly, I still don’t use my computer. My kids use the computer more than I do. I understand that a lot of people are into it, and I have days where I write and stuff, but it’s really not for me. It’s not my thing.”
Last summer, Spears celebrated getting her first iPad. She wrote on Instagram, “This is just a groundbreaking day. I’ve always had a little phone, but now this iPad is in my hands and I feel like my life is changing as we speak and I am so excited. Upward bound! Yes!”
