Some people have speculated that Heard is actually copying Depp’s outfits in the courtroom.
If you’ve been under a rock, you may have missed that Johnny Depp is suing his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for defamation.
Heard first made allegations of abuse in 2016 when she filed for divorce and accused Depp of abusing her during the marriage. The pair eventually agreed to an expensive settlement with clauses meant to protect both Heard and Depp after the breakup, Heard continued to speak.
Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed did not call out Depp by name, but Depp is suing Heard for libel over the piece. In the op-ed, Heard alleged that Depp verbally and physically abused her during the relationship. Depp is seeking $50 million in damages.
The trial is being aired by CourtTV, which means we can see …everything. It’s all laid bare for the public to see.
wTikTokers have used footage and images from the trial to match what Depp wore to one court date to what Heard wears to a different date.
For example, TikTokers claim that Heard wore a gray suit that was similar to the suit Depp wore to his defamation case in the U.K.
Depp also wore a tie with a bumblebee on it on the first day of the trial. Heard wore a similar tie on April 13th.
Other people have cited Heard’s high ponytail after Depp wore his in a similar way. He wore his hair up on April 18th; Heard has kept her hair in updos throughout the trial and wore a fully pony on April 19th.
People have noted the irony in what appears to be Heard’s actions after Depp’s sister Christi Dembrowski stated that Heard once criticized Johnny’s style.
“Johnny told Amber that I had just had a meeting with Dior and they were interested in him,” Dembrowski said in her testimony. “Her reaction to that was she was in disbelief and sort of disgust because she said, ‘Dior, why would Dior want to do business with you? They are about class and they are about style and you don’t have style.’ It was insulting. Taking away that one moment, that insult is there.”
