50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather were once thick as thieves, with the Grammy Award-winning rapper attending many of the fighter’s high-profile bouts and his 30th birthday party in Las Vegas back in 2007.
But then things went south in 2012 when the pair had a fight over money, according to Bleacher Report. 50 even questioned Mayweather’s intellect by challenging him to prove he was able to read by reading aloud “one full page from a Harry Potter book.”
It appears, however, that the rapper and boxing champ have finally made amends, according to a recent guest interview 50 Cent gave on The Breakfast Club show on Power 105.1 FM.
“I went to see him when I was in Vegas around my birthday,” 50 Cent said. “It was cool.”
The rapper even still calls his old friend Champ, a sign that they have rekindled their friendship. He added in the interview that standup comedian and actress Mo’Nique had attempted to help the two repair their friendship at one point, but 50 Cent was unreceptive at the time.
“Me and him get into an argument, and it can go on for a lot longer because we don’t really need each other,” he said, adding that Mayweather’s racing team, The Money Team, and the professional boxer are able to endure the difficulties in their relationship because they are “co-dependent.”
It’s clear from the way 50 Cent talks about Mayweather that he still respects him.
“I call him ‘Champ’ when I talk about him because I don’t want to take away the discipline and the work that he put in,” the rapper-turned-actor said.
One of the interviewers asked 50 Cent what their first real conversation after the decade-spanning beef was like, and 50 Cent put on a voice to imitate Mayweather, saying, “Why did you pull up on me, fam?”

He added that Mayweather also said, “Yo what took you so long? We can’t get the time back.” While they can’t get back the time they lost to their fight, at least the pair have finally reconciled.
