This Viral TikTok Love Story Started With A French Fry

TikTok has really become COVID king. The app saw a surge earlier this year when people began quarantining and its rise hasn’t slowed. So, it was only a matter of time before we saw an influx of adorable TikTok love stories.

The latest one is all because of one French fry.

The story begins with a TikTok post by Josiah Miller. On April 24, Miller uploaded a super-relatable video about eating food in your car.

Paired with September’s “Cry for You (You’ll Never See Me Again),” the video shows Miller in his car, eating a French fry. Unfortunately, the fry suffered the same fate of many fries before it.

The fry fell into the vehicle’s dark crevasses, right as some key lyrics — “you’ll never see me agaaaaiiiiiiiiinnn” — play.

The video resonated with a lot of people who are about that drive-thru lifestyle and received three million views and 171.5k likes.

Unbeknownst to Miller, one like would end up being his future love.

Natalie Otano loved Miller’s video so much that she gave him a follow on Instagram. He followed back and the two started interacting through likes, then story replies, and then things just started building.

Their interactions went beyond Instagram and Otano and Miller started Facetiming multiple hours a day. There was a slight problem, though. Otano lived in Los Angeles and Miller lived in Sarasota.

The two came up with a plan, and Miller announced it via — where else? — TikTok.

Miller flew out to Los Angeles to meet Otano in person. The two would then road trip to Miami, where Otano’s family lives. Since Miami is roughly a three-and-a-half hour drive from Sarasota, the new couple spent time with both families.

Miller chronicled the road trip, where we learned their first meal together involved French fries (natch).

And then it was on to meet Otano’s family, which added just another adorable layer to this entire story.
