Remember that old saying, that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach? Well, TikTokker Aimen applied that same concept to the woman behind him in the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through line—with surprisingly successful results!
Aimen caught sight of a young woman named Kamila in line behind him, and thought she was cute.
So he paid for her breakfast and asked the cashier to give her a note with his phone number.
The original video (which has over 12 million views) was posted to his TikTok account in December of 2020, but he recently re-uploaded the clip with an update. The new version garnered approximately 7 million views in its first 24 hours.
Aimen’s note reads, “Hey, I thought you were beautiful. Enjoy your day, and I hope this puts a smile on your face for the day!” It includes Aimen’s phone number, which is of course redacted in the video.
Aimen then watches in his rearview as a young woman in a hijab leans out of her car, gets her food and then the note, and does indeed break into a smile.
Aimen says the Dunkin’ employee deserves an “employee of the year award, right there,” and leaves hoping that Kamila will text him—which she does.
Other videos on Aimen’s TikTok show the couple going on dates and falling in love. He also recorded himself preparing a marriage proposal for Kamila—as well as footage of him popping the question, and her saying yes!
As the Daily Dot notes, Aimen and Kamila had wanted to invite the Dunkin’ employee who “introduced” them to their wedding, but weren’t able to do so. They couldn’t locate him, despite visiting multiple Dunkin’ locations where the company said he worked. He had apparently recently quit by the time they reached each of the two locations. But they did get married, and if the mysterious Dunkin’ employee ever stumbles upon Aimen’s TikTok, he will surely be delighted to learn that he’s responsible for the life this happy couple now share.
People who have followed their courtship from the beginning are only delighted at the happy ending the couple has found.
They were quick to chime in in the comments section, joking about their own missed (and some not-missed) connections at Dunkin, and pointing out that someone less prepared or with lesser penmanship than Aimen might also have missed out on this terrific love story.
And, of course, some had advice on how to take their next steps:
Aimen and Kamila do have something of a “baby” together, these days—they’ve recently created and launched their own coffee brand, called “Sweet Eye Coffee.”
