She’s an oversized softie with a heart of gold, but when her family moved away they were forced to leave poor Linda behind. Due to her size, she was continually being passed over by those people looking for younger and smaller dogs, and was clearly becoming heartbroken the longer she stayed there.
Over the time she spent in the humane society, Linda stopped accepting treats or affection and lost interest in going on walks with the shelter workers, instead lying still in her glass-walled cage, staring off into space.
Linda’s despondency broke the shelter workers’ hearts, and they wrote a note about the sweet dog explaining her history. It didn’t gain any traction from people walking in their doors, however, and so the shelter took to TikTok to hopefully spread word of Linda’s situation in hopes they would find her a forever family.
The initial video, posted on July 18, rapidly went viral with over 2.8 million views and 4.8k comments from viewers desperate to help or adopt the sweet girl.
Applications for her began rolling in at the shelter thanks to one video. One family came to do a meet and greet with Linda, but when she saw them, she became too nervous to go up to them. They weren’t dissuaded, however, and the couple decided to do a home visit and sleepover with her to get the sweetheart out of the shelter, which was clearly causing much of her anxiety.
They were patient with the lonely dog, and she very quickly took to them. She was very quickly adopted by the family, and it was all thanks to the video of her going viral on TikTok. Linda is now named Lucy, and they shared photos and videos with the shelter to share the happy ending to her sad story.
