We all know how much dogs enjoy food. Eating, for a dog, is up there with car rides, playing with toys, and the adoring love of their humans in the grand scheme of things—but people food? Fuhgettaboutit! In fact, dogs love people food so much that they are usually not exactly polite about eating it. Although a delightful new social media trend suggests otherwise.
Back in June, TikTok user @jvzmin.s, or “Jazmin,” posted the following video of her dog Sosa, who appears to be a German Shepherd mix. “You can take a small bite, just bite the corner, like this,” Jazmin says, holding a sandwich out to Sosa. “You see? Just bite it. Gentle!”

The video quickly went viral, because who doesn’t love a heckin’ good doggo who does as told?
Others soon began attempting the challenge using the audio from Jazmin’s clip, such as this pug who very gently bit the corner off a star-shaped chicken nugget which gained nearly 13 million views within just two days!
Others attempted to get their very good boys and girls to take gentle bites of everything from hamburgers and sandwiches to watermelon and snack food.
One person even tried it with a full-on dang warthog!
Of course, not every attempt could be a winner…
That last human nearly lost a finger (or even a whole hand) trying to get what seems like a particularly stubborn rottie to perform the trick, making it clear that not every dog is exactly cut out for the small gentle bite challenge.
The only thing we’re left to wonder is what do these people do with the rest of the sandwich after the dog has had a bite? Evidently, that old adage about a dog’s mouth being cleaner than a human’s mouth is decidedly not true! Oh well, we’re all gonna die, might as well be killed with cuteness.
